January 2024
Our meeting was a nice sociable morning with members making various items that we could sell at our show later in the year.
February 2024
A great talk from Suzanne Boulter about Four Patch Posies, One Block Wonders and Stack and Whack. The following day she steered us through a workshop covering either the Four Patch Posy or another technique called quartered stripes. The quilts came together quickly and everyone taking part was pleased with the outcome

March 2024
For our March 2024 meeting, we had the pleasure of welcoming Penny Bicknell who presented Across the Generations. This led us on a wonderful journey of quilts often collaborating with other people but mainly her mothers work which was both beautiful and plentiful. The variety of colours, styles, patterns and sizes was immense and interesting to all.

April 2024
At our April meeting we enjoyed a talk from Textile Artist, Wendy Dolan, she specialises in creating stitched textiles using fabric and threads to create her beautiful designs with freehand machine embroidery and creative stitching. The following day, Wendy led a workshop for 15 of our members doing a great job of creating their own textile art.
May 2024
An entertaining meeting in May when Nigel Scutt from Falcon Fabrics was our speaker.
A local business supplying beautiful furnishing fabrics, curtains blinds plus quilting fabrics and lots of sewing essentials from their Portfield Trading Estate.
Nigel talked about the history of the company which started
by accident while he was waiting to begin a career as a professional cricketer.
He met Nigel Austin and in 1991 they began supplying wholesale fabric to the
furnishing trade. They sold to the public in a small way and gradually this
became the main part of the business.
At the end of his talk Nigel sang the Buddy Holly song ‘You won’t matter any
more’ and a couple of other songs from that era probably a first to have a singer at our meeting!
June 2024
Glenis Lee’s talk “Its a Challenge” was delightful. Glynis belongs to a group of 6
creative quilters who challenge each other monthly. The challenges vary
tremendously and Glynis showed us some very unusual things. She had made
several large birds with rigid bodies formed over a balloon. Other work she brought to our meeting included her Sign of the Zodiac, Leo, Flight, D Day and Lock Down. The formidable looking lady with her hands on her hips was a stitch and pass it on like we used to draw people as
children, fold over and pass to a friend to draw the next part.

July 2024
Every year in July we have an evening meeting which is a Show and Tell followed by Strawberries and Cream and Prosecco and a chance to chat and catch up. As always we had a lovely sociable evening and the strawberries were fabulous. Our members bought along a wonderful range of items they had made to share with everyone. These are photographs of some of the work.

Sewing for our Show
Next month we have our bi-annual show at the Assembly Rooms in Chichester. The main purpose is to be able to display the quilts we have made but we also raise funds for 2 charities, CancerWise and Snowdrop Trust. We have a very popular sales table selling all sorts of things that our members have made, for instance, Christmas Tree Decorations, Bags, Glasses Cases, Needle Holders etc. etc. So, our September meeting was a lovely morning, having a chat, drinking a coffee or two and getting on with some sewing.
October 2024
Talk and Workshop by Jenny Jackson
Jenny treated us to an excellent talk about her love of English Paper Piecing and Foundation Paper Piecing. She brought along lots of wonderful colourful examples of her work often showing 2 quilts which were the same pattern but done in a different colour way, looked completely different. She had quilts, cushions, bags all done in lovely bright colours. The following day she led a workshop for our members demonstrating and teaching us how to do ‘Flying Geese’ using the Foundation Paper Piecing method.

November 2024
We enjoyed a lovely talk, scrappy quilts and their making by Mel Lewis. She explained her techniques for trying to keep on top of scraps and get them sorted into manageable strips divided up by colour. She had some beautiful bright quilts to demonstrate her work and a fabulous sales table which was very popular with our members.

December 2024
We had a successful AGM combined with Christmas get together, Liz supplied good coffee and tea with a selection of Christmas nibbles.
Lisa Joy from CancerWise came and gave us a short talk on the work they do and how they help people suffering with all forms of Cancer. She was delighted that we were able to present her with a cheque for £1500 as a result of our recent Quilt Show.
Our member Lesley Syme has been quilting for many years and has a collection of antique quilts, she brought along a few to show us and tell their story.
